Never stayed there but I can recommend the Orange Grove RV Resort.

RE: Campground Tuscaloosa AL

Deerlick COE park is great, but closed last weekend, for the Winter. Also neither Lake Lurleen nor Deerlick have 50 amps.

RE: Campground Tuscaloosa AL

Sunset II Travel Park at exit 76 on I-59. Nothing fancy but simple and clean. Not listed in Trailer Life for some reason. Full hookups. Nice owners. Right next to the exit but the highway traffic never seemed to be a problem. Tannehill is a little far if you need to be in Tuscaloosa.
Roll Tide.

Had it up to here with irresponsible dog owners

After walking out my front door yesterday and stepping in you-know-what, I've had enough. The only thing that makes me angrier is having something stolen.
I really want to get even with some of the noncaring, sneaky, low life owners who will not take the time or effort to pick up after Rover.
Don't get me wrong. I am a dog lover. Some owners need a lesson in common courtesy.
I have decided that my plan is to pick up after any owner I observe who will not do the deed himself or herself and deliver the prize to that owners campsite. Hopefully they may experience the pleasure that they left for someone else.
Now, I feel better. Nothing like venting.

RE: CG cancellation with happy ending

Stayed there several times and this does not surprise me. These are the most accomodating folks you will find.
Called to make reservations for a creekside site after my wife had knee surgery. The lady I talked with went down to the site we wanted to see if my wife would be able to walk to the water, then called me back to describe the terrain. Can't beat that.

RE: What is the worst Road you drove on?

The worst one I have unexpectedly encountered while towing was route 128 from Geyserville and Calistoga, CA. I was towing a 34' fiver and using a Rand-McNally map book that didn't really show the curves. Bad choice.
The one road I would never tow again is US-50 from Silverton to Ouray, CO. The road is OK but the drop-offs and narrow roadway are unnerving.

RE: Ft. Stevens OR is full, now what?

Cape Disappointment State Park across the river in Washington.
Is that where we got the pictures in the lap of the stuffed bear? I think it is, but need to confirm. Didn't camp. Just visited camp store.

RE: Football Stadium Parking ...

WOW! I thought $650 for the year for home games at th U of Alabama was a expensive. And that's only 3/4 mile from the stadium, with free bus servace.

I think St. Joseph SP near Appalachacola, FL now allows pets. They have some beachfront sites. Wheather or not you can take the pets to the beach I don't know. I was under the impression that it violated Florida law.

RE: RV PARKS NEAR BIRMINGHAM AL.

I'm at Oak Mountain now and like it. There's an A and a B side,A is nicer.
I like Oak Mountain SP OK but you will spend an extra 45 minutes each way to get there an back from I-59.

RE: RV PARKS NEAR BIRMINGHAM AL.

You are apparently traveling east to west and Tannehill would be the easiest choice in the B'ham area, but if you want to continue on toward the Mississippi state line there is a small campground in the town of Knoxville, AL. I think it is called Knox Hill CG. It gets good reviews and is a very easy off/on for traveling along I-59.

RE: DirecTV - Anyone have National Channels and local channels?

I don't think this is legal or whatever, but I pay for it all. I have locals, distant networks from NY and LA and I have NY HD feeds. I have four receivers in my home and two in the RV. Three are HD DVD's and three are HD receivers. This is the way they are listed on my account.

DirecTV HD without the Slimline 5

I just bought a 99/101/103 LNB Link and retrofitted it to an old 18" X 20" Phase III dish. The results have been good. I am receiving all the HD programming, including my locals off the 103 satellite.
The adjustment is very sensitive due to the smaller dish and I'm sure it will be quite weather sensitive on the 99 and 103 HA signals due to the smaller size, but I can always go back to SD on 101 and ride out the storm.
The channels that I lost were in the 70's and 80's off the 119, but they are all duplicated elsewhere from the HA satellites.
No more lugging that Slimline around.

RE: Tom Sawyer - West Memphis

If you are not planning this trip in the Spring then disregard this. We had reservations for two nights last April but got a call about a week before to tell us they were flooded. I must say that we were forewarned about this possibility when we made the reservations.
Hope we get another chance to go there.

RE: How to set up RV satellite tv

This is the way I've been doing it for almost a year now. Cost was less than $100.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g88/jmstock/Slimline.jpg
By the way, I wouldn't get too into this dish setup right now. DirecTV is moving their programming to the 99/101/103 satellites which should allow them to make a smaller dish that we RV'ers might find handier. I have discovered that I do not loose a single channel when I set up with the 3 lnb's only. The HD channels found in the 70's and 80's are also found in other positions on the tuner coming from the 99 and 103 satellites. Here is a link to the lnb needed.
I plan to try one with an old Phase III (101/110/119)dish by replacing the lnb's

RE: Direct TV HD and non-HD

I might be wrong but I do not think that all HD recvrs have co-ax output. They have component, HDMI and svideo. So if your RV TV has coax only, you might need a converter.
For satellite receivers to the TV, all new sat receivers only output HDMI, component (5 RCA plugs) or audio/video to the TV. They have no RF output so you are right about needing at least A/V inputs for the TV to work

RE: Need Advice - route and campgrounds Ouray CO

Takes more guts than I have to tow Silverton to Ouray and even more to make the reverse trip.
I remember driving back in a dually and no tow. We met an 18 wheeler who happened to drop off the pavemrnt temporarily and did a few swerving manuvers to regain control. I had a sheer drop ro my right and maybe two feet of shoulder.
Talk about raising your pulse rate!!!
Those guys that tow 18 wheelers along that route every day must have large ones, or maybe they're just young and bullet proof.

RE: Guns and RVs

Google "traveling the united states and canada with firearms." and you'll get a pluthera of info on traveling with guns in the US and Canada. (Pluthera was my word of the day, I actually got to work it into a sentence today! Yay! :W
I hate to burst your bubble but there is no pluthera in the dictionary. I believe you mean "plethora" meaning excess. :)
If you are the spelling police you could have a field day on these forums. You may even need help. Nobody's perfect.

RE: My 2007 5er is not ready for the digital T.V signal

I understand the frustration of the OP. I think the thread got way off the point. I also bought a 2007 fifth wheel. Mine was a Montana and it also had an two analog TV's. It does seem ridiculous that an '07 model would come with two TV's that would be obsolete in less than two years.
Guess Keystone bought them cheap. Lucky if you can get rid of them without having to pay someone to take them.
